NEW BLOGGER- ANOTHER ONE FROM AUS.

I’m a new blogger for ONEWORDfish. I am a DJ and producer from Melbourne, Australia. I have been DJing for the past 5 years, and producing for the last 2. I am into many genres of dance music, most obviously however, I am influenced by Indie and French House/Electro, any good party music really, genre is not important as long as it is sexy . I’m really into lot of the stuff coming out of the west coast of France, from artists such as Anoraak, Maethelvin, Minitel Rose and the rest of the Valerie crew.

Also English artists such as Russ Chimes, and producers such as DatA, and labels like Ecleroshock are also doing the business for me at the moment. Also Disco Texas, which is Moulinex and Xinobi, and their extended crew are producing some top quality material of late. Obviously the Ed Banger crew are an influence, however a lot of the best stuff coming out has been from Australian artists such as the Cutters Records crew, all the guys on Bang Gang 12″, and guys like Miami Horror, Ooh-ee and Gameboy/Gamegirl. I have been working on some material for release mid-2008, on my Vendetta EP, featuring some collaborations and remixes from a few of my favourite artists.

Here is a little mix by an outstanding duo, Glass Mirrors. These guys, known as X & Y, are partly from Germany/Japan, and Australia, who reside in France. Confused? Don’t be, these guys do an awesome live show, complete with synthesisers and outboard gear. This mix was done about 2 months ago, for a radio show, and it gives an indication of their style and sound, and their willingness to meld that with the sounds of the country they re touring in, that being Australia. The tracklist is a little dated, however itis still well worth the listen. They also have an EP being released mid-2008, Hot Jam Donuts.

New Glass Mirrors Mix

They are touring in Australia during December, so look out for them. They are playing a Nevereverland (Daft Punk) Afterparty on the 13th, so everyone go and check them out. They can be booked directly at glassmirrors@gmail.com Or alternatively on their new myspace www.myspace.com/glassmirrorsmusic

Tracklisting
Van She - Mission (Harris Robotis Cut Fuck Remix)
Danger - 14h54
Jupiter One - Countdown (L.A. Riots Remix)
Klaxons - As Above, So Below (Justice Remix)
Soft Tigers - Mr. Ice Cream (Miami Horror Kids Out On The Street Remix)
NYPC - Get Lucky (MSTRKRFT Remix)
The Black Ghosts - Anyway You Choose to Give it (Boy-8-Bit Remix)
Kissy Sell Out - Keanu Reeves
Howling Bells - How Happening (Presets Remix)
Danger - 11h30

Also here is a track from Narctrax called Concorde, which is a very nice atmospheric track, very much in the trademark Valerie style.

Narctrax - Concorde

I will have many more tracks when I post next, sorry about the shortage of material here but I will make it up to you guys on the next one.

Thanks fishes

NEW BLOGGER- FROM THE SOUTH.

Howdy folks.

I am (one of) the new blogger(s) at ONEWORDfish! To give you a bit of background, I am an Electro Producer with absolutely no DJ’ing talents from Melbourne, Australia. I have been producing since May 2007, and while some of you may think that gives me no credence to comment on Dance music, I beg to differ!

Firstly, my influences come from many Australian producers, such as fRew, Bass Kleph, Goodwill, Mr Timothy, EFL, Dirty South etc. However, like anybody into electro, the French are starting to make a big impact into my sound, and I’m as sure as hell enjoying it.

Now, to business; I will not post any new songs if they are not songs that I love, so rest assured you will get top quality tracks and not me being paid-out or being a sell-out.

FIRST UP! We have some tracks from the mind of Klaas, straight to your speakers, with his irresistable club shaking basslines that will leave you convulsing, drooling, and screaming for more. While some of these may be reposts and not as new as you wish they were, we can all safely agree that these tracks are worth fighting over, and you will enjoy them as much now as you did when you first heard them.

So without further ado, I bring you your newest installment of electrofunkafying hits:

Klaas - Get the fuck outta here (2007 Electro Peaks Mix)
Klaas - Wild Obsession Theme
Klaas - The Way To Go
John Morley - Naughty (Klaas Mix)
Attack Attack - Set The Sun (Klaas Mix)

Pretty sweet concept. I’m not really sure which was more impressing…
The co-ordination and practice it must have taken to execute this, or the physical state they’re both in.

Sloppy Seconds
Bloc Party - The Prayer (1 fish, two fish remix)
Hostage - Gluttony (Felix Cartal remix)

I could only bring you a sample of his work.. but I know you’ll appreciate it. Head over to his myspace for a further listen.

Blass Kleph - Bump Uglies (fRew remix)

Seriously hot stuff.

fRew - Get Doh

A little bit about fRew..
With over five years experience behind the decks fRew’s bass driven, party rockin’, tech-electro sound and rapid fire mixing style has even the most blasé bodies bouncing to his bass lines. Now, in 2007, he’s taken it to the next level by writing his own music and signing to the world’s fastest growing and forward thinking label, Vacation Records.

GUESS WHOS BACK?

What a boring weekend. Please kids.. never break an ankle.

Anyways, I’ve been sitting on a few of Hostages tracks for quite some time now, just waiting for the means to post it.

Hostage - Blackout

It’s got a deeper and darker feel to it but an incredible track nonetheless. The distorted bass, accompanied by yet another signature build-up, is abruptly interrupted by an explosion of sound that’ll have your head banging and your eyes twitching. I’d be slightly disappointed if I didn’t see this popping up in sets all around the world.

You’ll enjoy this aswell:

Hostage - Money

and this:

Hostage - Energia

You may have also noticed the new blog skin thingy aswell. I hope you all like it. Feedback is always welcome, drop us a comment! and don’t forget to spread the word about us.

NO NERDS, JUST DORKS

Another delayed post - but with good reason; I fractured a bone in my ankle.

So I’ve been at hospitals, specialists etc. the last few days getting it checked, getting a cast… all that jazz and it looks like I’ll be spending the majority of summer salted in my own sweat. No pools, no beach.. no life essentially. But thats enough of my cynical colorless life let get onto the music.

WHITE DORKS

Todd (M*A*S*H) and Dan (Dan Only) are the brains behind the operation and have been since the start of high school, where, they played at parties together. They describe their music as “dorkinbuzzfunkinpopelectrstuffinstuff!” or as us nerds know it: Hip hop, breaks, house (all kinds), baltimore, rock, electro and funk. They basically play a bit of everything.. trying not to discriminate. The future is lustrous for these two boys out of Sydney with new remixes coming soon from Promomofo, Casette Kids and Yen. Check their myspace for upcoming shows.

1 Dec - CLUB CLUB @ Chinese Laundry
1 Jan - Sounds on NYD
12 Jan- CLUB CLUB @ chinese Laundry

Dave Dobbyn - Slice of Heaven (White Dorks rmx)
Beaufort - Fuck the Google (White Dorks rmx)

BERLIN COPENHAGEN CONNECTION

Sorry for the delayed post - Been sick the last few days.

I try to download the majority of my music before 12am because it doesn’t consume my usage, and I listen to it later in the day or whenever… So here I was executing the typical routine (Importing files into Itunes) when I came across a mix named “norm d and coco albani …berlin cop” which I hadn’t remembered downloading. I had a listen.. and I loved it.

About Norm D:
Inspired by his first Hip Hop Jams, Norm D started recording “mixtapes” for friends in 1995. He quickly recognized that his expertise was in playing the records - rather than dancing to them. In 1996 he bought his first turntables and worked towards improving his skills. After attending his first “techno party”, Norm was so impressed by these sounds and the people.. he started to buy House and Electro Vinyls. In 1997 he had his first bookings and started to co-operate with organizers in and around Cottbus. He hopes by the end of the year, to have his “own” party in Copenhagen with local resident DJ’s.

MATHEMATIKAL PUNTING

Today was cup day; Melbourne cup day - a race that almost stops the nation. I went along with the intention of bringing home some serious cash. Oh how wrong I was. Came home about 60 bucks down. So I thought I could make up for my incredibly bad punting skills with a good post.

Jon and Jay - both in their early 20’s, both sporting tight jeans.. and both self indulged in old school tee’s met in a small recording studio in Malta, to form Mathematikal. A mixture of ever present funk, dance and a will to dance is what “plonk” is all about. Amid all the plonking, the boys dropped their debut EP “Electrophant” (May 2007) which was graciously received around the world.

The boys plans for 2008 include more funk, more dance and a hell of alot more plonking.

Mathematikal - This is plonk
